Curve Trace and Electrical Testing

Electrical Signature Testing for Counterfeit Detection

Systemation Euro provides curve trace and electrical testing for OEMs, distributors and contract electronics manufacturers who need to confirm that a component behaves electrically the way the declared part should. It identifies cloned die, wrong devices and non-functional parts.

Our Electrical Testing Capabilities

Curve trace compares the electrical signature of a suspect component against a verified known-good reference, pin by pin.

Pin-by-Pin Comparison

Each pin’s current and voltage characteristic compared against a known-good reference device.

Clone and Substitution Detection

Identifies parts containing a different die to the one declared on the package.

Non-Functional Part Screening

Reveals devices that are electrically dead or partially damaged before they reach your line.

Reclaimed Part Indicators

Signature anomalies consistent with components harvested from used assemblies.

Batch Consistency

Multiple parts compared to expose mixed-source or mixed-date-code batches.

Documented Traces

Captured traces retained and supplied as part of your inspection evidence.

Request a Sample Report

See exactly what you get back. Send your details and we will share a sample inspection report, plus pricing for your batch.

About Our Curve Trace Process

Curve trace testing applies a controlled voltage across each pin of a component and measures the resulting current, producing a characteristic curve. Every genuine device family has a recognisable signature, so comparing a suspect part against a verified reference gives a direct read on whether the silicon inside is what the package claims.

This is one of the more revealing counterfeit tests because it examines behaviour rather than appearance. A part that is externally flawless, passes XRF analysis and shows a plausible X-ray image can still carry the wrong die, and curve trace is usually where that surfaces.

Electrical testing forms part of a layered counterfeit component testing process. Where the result is inconclusive and certainty is required, decapsulation and die level analysis provides definitive verification on a sample.

Non-Destructive

Components are returned intact and fully usable after testing, so the batch stays available for production.

Independent Inspection

Testing carried out independently of the supply chain, giving unbiased results for your incoming inspection records.

All work operated within our ISO 9001:2015 UKAS-accredited quality management system. Working towards AS9100 Rev D and AS6171.

Full Traceability

Incoming component records, test parameters and inspection findings maintained for every batch we handle.

Package Range

Electrical testing carried out across discrete devices, logic, memory and analogue components. Contact us to confirm suitability.

Same-Site Processing

Testing completed alongside programming, taping and reeling at the same Northampton facility. One supplier, one point of contact.

Curve trace applies a controlled voltage across each pin of a component and measures the resulting current, producing a characteristic signature. Comparing that signature against a known-good reference reveals whether the device is genuine.

No. Curve trace is non-destructive. Components are returned intact and remain usable in production afterwards.

Cloned or substituted die, wrong devices in correct packages, electrically dead parts, and components harvested from used assemblies and re-marked as new stock.

A verified reference significantly improves confidence in the result. Where one is not available, we compare across the batch and against datasheet expectations, and will advise on the limitations.

Yes. Captured traces and findings are supplied as a written report suitable for your incoming inspection and audit records.
