What is ionic contamination testing?
It measures the conductive ionic residue on a component’s surface. Samples are washed in a controlled solution and the resulting change in conductivity gives a quantified reading of contamination.
What does elevated ionic contamination indicate?
Most commonly that a component has previously been soldered into an assembly and recovered, or has been through an aggressive cleaning process to disguise its history.
Is ionic contamination testing destructive?
The test itself does not damage the component, though parts are handled in a wash solution. Testing is normally carried out on a representative sample from the batch.
Why does ionic residue matter beyond counterfeit detection?
Ionic residue left on a finished assembly can drive electrochemical migration and corrosion over time, causing field failures long after production.
Do you supply documentation with the results?
Yes. Measurements are recorded per sample and supplied as a written report suitable for your incoming inspection and audit records.
